In April the Cairngorms Capercaillie Project at the Cairngorms National Park Authority invited views on taking forward the advice in the February NatureScot Review of Capercaillie Conservation and Management – Report to the Scientific Advisory Committee.
ScotWays comments on the advice centred on how public access could be managed and the noted action of creating “More / larger refuges from human disturbance through the temporary or permanent closure of paths and tracks.”
It emphasised that there are specific formal processes in place for temporarily or permanently restricting access rights or rights of way and highlighted the general principle of keeping closures to routes or areas as limited in geographic extent and duration of time as is necessary to achieve the purposes of said closure.
