Route Description
Newsflash (February 2019): the Woodland Trust report that they are repairing this right of way from 25th February until the end of March, so for safety reasons it will be temporarily inaccessible. The Loan nearby will remain available for use as a diversion.
This lovely walk which passes through the Woodland Trust's Catwalk (Den) Wood, lies along the very steep sided valley of the Lyne Water. It is promoted along with The Loan as a classic circular family walk by the North Tweeddale Paths Group, but owing to the Catwalk's steepness they do not recommend this route for unaccompanied children.

Heritage Information
The Catwalk is so named because, as it is very narrow and lies on the side of a gorge, it is said that only people as nimble as cats are able to walk it.
It's a very short path and may well have been long in use to access the Old Biggar Road (here overlying an old Roman road) which runs parallel with the A702.
