Saturday 18 November, ScotWays members gathered in the impressive surroundings of The Merchants House of Glasgow for the 2023 ScotWays AGM. In response to members telling us they missed the social aspects of previous meetings, there was an optional light lunch before Kevin Lafferty, Chief Executive Officer of Paths for All, spoke to us about the wide-ranging work of his organisation to promote one of the simplest and most accessible forms of exercise, walking. Kevin’s passion for his subject was clear to all who heard him speak.

Chair Katharine Taylor welcomed members joining online both in Scotland and abroad as well as those attending in person before presenting the Directors’ Report of the year’s activities. The formal business continued with the presentation of the accounts and the appointment of two new directors as well as the reappointment of four who form part of the current team. We were sorry to bid farewell to David Langworth who steps down from the board this year but are grateful for all he has done for the Society and trust he will keep in touch with ScotWays as a volunteer.

The formal business complete, Tim Simons, director responsible for volunteers and Neil Birch, Access Officer (Outreach) led a discussion session with some of our extensive team of volunteers about aspects of our volunteering activities.

Thank you to all of our members and supporters who came along on the day, and also to those who joined us online. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
