Route Description
Access to Poldhu Wells is off the A97 near Logie Coldstone. We don’t yet have a full survey, but a lot of work has been done on the route recently so it should be signposted and very accessible.

Heritage Information
The granite-lined mineral springs of Poldhu Wells were believed to have curative properties, so were once a popular attraction.
The wells are mentioned in the First Statistical Account of Scotland (1791-99) described as "a mineral spring in the parish, a little to the south of the church, called Poldow, which, in the Gaelic, signifies 'a Black Pool', the water of which, some years ago, was much and successfully used for scorbutic and gravelish disorders". By the Second Statistical Account (1834-45) it was said to be "occasionally resorted to by some for the benefit of their health, and by others for amusement".
The wells are, therefore, worth visiting if someone is in need of curing their scorbutic or gravelish disorders, or simply for having fun.
